Rev. Dr. Joyce Rose Scott
About Our Pastor
Rev. Dr.
Joyce Rose Scott is the Lead Pastor of Tabernacle Worship Center in Virginia
Beach, Virginia. And she is a Virginia native.
Pastor
Scott was born in Franklin and is the daughter of the late Lois Rose and John
R. Rose Sr. She received her early formal education in the Franklin, Virginia
public schools and graduated from Hayden High School. She continued her formal
education at Norfolk State University, where she successfully majored in
Nursing Education. Subsequently, she enrolled at the Norfolk Community Hospital
School of Anesthesia under the cooperative auspices of the Howard University
School of Medicine and successfully completed the Art of Anesthetic Care.
Joyce Rose
Scott was employed at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center for more than 21
years. And she holds the distinction of being the first African American female
Chief Nurse Anesthetist. Scott served in that leadership role for 16 years. She
was also the Unit Director of the Department of Anesthesia -- and is a former Director of the Surgical Admittance and the Pre-admission Testing Departments,
respectively. Additionally, she has served as the Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission (EEOC) Ombudsman for Chesapeake Regional Medical
Center. She is
professionally affiliated with the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists,
The Virginia Association of Nurse Anesthetists, and is a State-Certified
Licensed Practitioner.
Pastor
Joyce Rose Scott answered God's call to the gospel ministry and was licensed to
preach on November 23, 2003 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Virginia Beach,
Virginia under the pastorate of the late Bishop William Darryl Scott, Sr. Prior
to her pastoral leadership, she served the church in several capacities. In
addition to being the Elect Lady, she has served as president of the
Beautification Ministry; member of the Constitution Committee; and Chair of the
Wedding Ethics Committee.
When Pastor
Joyce is not engaged in her church leadership duties and responsibilities, she
enjoys serving as the Chief Operating Officer for E. L. Ministries, an
evangelistic/empowerment ministry she co-founded with her late husband, Bishop
William Darryl Scott Sr.
Pastor Joyce Rose Scott is continually sought to minister locally, nationally,
and internationally. Her commitments to God, family, and her brothers and
sisters in Christ are admirable and commendable, and she blesses many with a
bold spirit of proclamation that has enabled her to successfully minister as
far away as Japan, England, and Africa.
Pastor
Scott was blessed to share 36 years of marriage to the late Bishop
William Darryl Scott, Sr., who served as the Senior Pastor at Pleasant Grove
Baptist in Virginia Beach until his death.
Pastor
Scott completed Theology Studies at Regent University, and earned her Doctorate
in Theology Studies from St. Thomas University.
